DogTrac ID Tag FAQs

Q. How does the DogTrac ID Tag work?
A. When the free phone number on the front of the tag is called and the 8 digit tag id number entered the call is automatic diverted to the primary contact number of the owner. If there is no response from the primary number, the call is diverted to up to 2 secondary numbers that the owner can preset.

When a DogTrac QR code is scanned or searched (online using the unique 8-digit code displayed on the tag), you'll receive a text and email notifying you that your pet has been found, and where possible, a map locating exactly where it was scanned. The following details you have set up within your account will be displayed to the finder: multiple contact numbers, multiple email addresses, any critical pet data you set, vet details (should it be in an accident), insurance details and any additional details such as medical or behavioural information. We never display your address or the name of the dog.

Q. How can I get my free DogTrac ID Tag?
A. The free Dogtrac ID Tags needs to be ordered from within your account. You will need Premium Protection to claim a free tag. Sign in to your account and visit the DogTrac ID Tag page. Select the tag size you want and then checkout. The price of the tag will be £0 if you have Premium Protection but you will need to cover the P&P charge of £3.95 per tag. Delivery can take up to 5 working days.

Q. How do I activate DogTrac tags?
A. To check if you have activated you DogTrac ID Tags correctly, sign in to your account. Your pet's profile will display a DogTrac ID Tag if you have assigned the tag correctly.

If you don't see a Dogtrac ID Tag, click the 'Activate a Tag' link and enter the tag ID.

Q. How can I check my DogTrac ID Tag is active?
A. To check if you have activated you DogTrac ID Tags correctly, sign in to your account. Your pet's profile will display the DogTrac ID Tag if you have assigned the tag correctly.

If you don't see a Dogtrac ID Tag, select the 'ID Tag Admin' in your account navigation and then select 'Unassigned Tags'. You can then assign any unassigned tags or select 'Activate Tag' to activate the tag first.

To check the Key Tags you have active in your account, select 'ID Tag Admin' and then 'My Key Tags'.

You can call the free phone number on the tag and enter the 8 digit ID number, scan your tag QR code or search the tag ID online to check your details appear on screen.

Q. Why are the numbers on the DogTrac tags different?
A. Every DogTrac ID tag has a unique number. The codes are different so we can identify if your pet when someone scans the tag. You will need to activate the tag within your account.
